Next Meeting: May 21, 6 - 8:00 pm Resin, Acrylic, Mixed Media
A) Demonstration: Aimee Lamoureux Resin, Acrylic, Mixed Media Aimee Lamoureux is a resin artist and maker from the Sierra Nevada foothills. Drawing inspiration from the nature, geography and geology of the northern state, Aimee mixes paint, pigments, inks and anything else handy into resin and uses heat, blown air and conventional (and unconventional) painting tools to create one of a kind works of functional art. She now enjoys sharing and selling her one-of-a-kind creations at Placerville's Art Studio 360 located on Main Street. Her presentation will be on the uses of resin in artwork. Aimee will discuss the different types of resin and their uses, needed/helpful supplies to have on hand, correct measuring and mixing techniques, how mixing medium into resin effects curing time, and troubleshooting problems. Finally, she will do one or two small pours to demonstrate her techniques. THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hi All,
The Studio Tour is quickly approaching. It’s amazing how our members have pitched in to help make it a big success. With lots of help, we printed and delivered 6,000 brochures and postcards, flyers, posters, signs and banners. Everyone pitched in to assist in the distribution throughout the community! No doubt you’ve noticed the banners on street corners and posters and brochures where you shop and eat. We’ve canvased our neighborhoods to spread the word about our amazing Art Tour. Hopefully, it will insure crowds of art patrons at every location and lots of sales for all the artists.
Gallery 48 Preview Show & Reception- Yesterday EDHAA volunteers helped to check in and display the art for the preview show at Gallery 48 Natoma. Many thanks for their help. They did a wonderful job displaying the 2D and 3D art in the hall Gallery. Show your support by attending the reception for a wonderful evening with art, music and refreshments (and bring friends and relatives) - Friday, April 26 from 6-8pm. Our art will be at Gallery 48 until June 6.
May Meeting May 21, 6 to 8 — Aimee Lamoureux- Resin Artist The May Meeting promises to be a real treat for all of us. The first hour will be a very interesting demonstration with Aimee Lamoureux sharing her resin art process (including a pour). I look forward learning about a medium I know nothing about. It looks very interesting!
The second hour will be a celebration and scholarship awards presentation, honoring the two winners of our scholarships. The two girls receiving the awards will be sharing their “story” and examples of their art with us, followed by Melissa Kayser (Scholarship Chairperson), Marisa Sayago (Folsom College Art Dept. Chairperson) and Dan Cattone (Joey Cattone’s husband) , presenting the awards.
Spend a wonderful May enjoying a beautiful Spring, creating and sharing art.
Judy
